DIAMOND STUD EARRINGS
Diamond stud earrings can go with almost anything. I do not believe there is a more versatile piece of jewelry. They can be worn to dress up a nice t-shirt and designer jeans to go anywhere that has a semi dressy code or you can wear them with a classy little black dress to any formal occasion. We can be wearing Diamond Stud Earrings with sweatpants and a sweatshirt and feel like a million bucks. In fact, diamond earrings are possibly the perfect accessory. I can't think of many things that they don't go with. You do however have to be careful on the size of the earrings with the outfit you are wearing. You can not wear studs the size of an apple with a casual outfit.
Pricing
Few people have the luxury of ignoring price when it comes to purchasing diamond earrings. Most people say buy the biggest diamond that you can afford without going broke. I say establish your budget, then balance quality, size and style to find the right earrings for your particular lifestyle or the person you are buying them fors lifestyle. After determining price you can move on to the other considerations.
Choose Your Style Diamond Stud Earrings
When we think of diamond earrings, most of us think of the basic round earrings. However, that's not all there is to choose from. You may want a simple diamond stud, however you do not have to stick with the simple round one. A teardrop shape is always glamorous and adds a classy throwback to simpler times. Personally, a popular one that I am a fan of is the asscher cut.
It is a very bright uncomplicated diamond with clean lines. The asscher cut is extremely similar to the emerald cut in that it is a stepped square. However, the asscher has corners that are cut back. This cut was not very popular until it started appearing on "Sex and the City," and stars such as Kate Hudson were donning engagement rings that were asscher cut.
Choosing the Cut
Another cut of diamond is the cushion cut which is a more complicated cut than the asscher cut. It is an older, antique cut that came from two popular cuts in the 1800s and 1900s. This cut is also referred to as the candlelight cut or pillow cut. It was called the candlelight cut because prior to electricity there were only candles and this shone well under the light of candles. If you use this cut for your diamond stud earrings it will be a great way to add older looking pieces to a more up to date outfit.
Choosing the cut or the design of the setting is often personal preference, but you can at least look for patterns in cuts. For example, a person who loves lacy dainty designs will probably not appreciate a heavy, square cut design for diamond stud earrings which you choose. Related to this suggestion is the size of the setting itself. The diamond stud earrings should definitely be in proportion to the size of the ear lobes and the size of the persons face so that the earrings do not overwhelm their face.
Selection of Metal
Most people usually have a definite preference when it comes to the metal. If a recipient is usually seen in gold, then you should probably stick with the gold look. However, if you want to go to the next level of luxury you might want to choose platinum. Platinum is less likely to contain alloys which can cause allergic reactions such as those found with alloys which contain nickel. Occasionally you will see some unique settings incorporating diamonds and such substances as citrine or black pearl which are very beautiful when used as the basis of the diamond stud earrings.
Shopping For The Earrings
Before purchasing the diamond stud earrings you should shop around at retail stores and online. Compare prices and quality of diamonds. First, the most expensive and rare diamonds are colorless. As they move down the scale, they get increasingly yellow. The grading scale is from the letter D to Z. D through F are colorless. Letters G through I are close to colorless. Diamonds get yellowier in color as they move from J to Z.
